Free Wheel Hubs
Free wheel hubs can be found on rovers of all vintages. There are numerous models and all differ to some degree in their engagement and design. I hope to document most of the different types of vintage hubs here.

These are AVM free wheel hubs made in Spain. There are both metal and plastic bodied varieties of these.

These are Dual-matic Free-Wheeling-Hubs. I normally see them fitted to earlier SIIs and SIIAs.
Here
is a what the dualmatics look like when they are new. Note the little dualmatic
stickers. Bestop purchased the dualmatic brand at some point but ceased producing
these hubs.
This is a Denver brand Free-Wheeling Hub. It was fitted to a 1959 SII. They are unusual.
This is a power-lock free wheeling hub. It was fitted to a Series One 86 inch from Australia. I have never seen another set. They are unusual.
A more common set of selectro fwh's. These are nice quality and very good looking hubs.
These are perfect circle hubs. Perfect circle is a division of Dana corporation. They appear to be selectro hubs with different logos etced in them. They are pretty unusual hubs.
This is a Warn M-11 Free Wheel Hub. Great quality and very common to US spec series rovers.
Here is a set of brand new Warn M-11 free wheel hubs with the box and instructions. The picture gives a good indication of the color scheme (black paint in the low spots and red highlights)
These hubs were manufactured by Mayflower Automotive Products. They are very cool hubs, a little inconvenient to use because of the central bolt actuator, but quite robust and I love the scalloped edges which are reminicent of the early drive flanges. The Fairey company purchased the MAP company and rebadged their PTO winch and dropped these hubs from production.
These are the hubs that Fairey replaced the MAPs with. They are pretty wimpy in comparison to the MAPS. The cheaply cast body is very weak and tends to wear easily and crack and leak.
Here is a set of new Fairey hubs, you can see the box and instructions complete with the Fairey Winches logo.

These power Train Products hubs are rebranded selectros. This was a common marketing technique. There are several different brands which used the selectro product as a basis for their own hubs.
This is a Thor automatic locking hub. These were an uncommon fitment.
I will have more types posted later, as soon as I can get some pictures. If you have pics of old rover hubs send them to me at: lemurstew@aol.com Future updates will include the following makes:
