This is the Pabst Blue Rover. We purchased this truck from an alcoholic who was using it to store his garbage. Despite having been neglected for a few years its an excellent original. As solid as they come with a really excellent frame and firewall. A very original rover right down to the paint. It will be getting a full on frame off reburbishment with lots of galvanizing and lots of quality hardware for both road and trail.

This gives you a good idea of the grime, mold and moss, that was covering this vehicle. In addition to storing his garbage, the previous owner was using the depression in the deluxe hood for composting.

Heres another shot showing the vegetation that had begun to take hold on the truck.

A thorough pressure washing revealed an extremely original and complete engine bay th was actually very clean for an original vehicle.

Under the grime and filth was a sweet little truck!

Interior is very original with only a few details that have been altered. The footwells are rock solid.

Wow, best looking dumpster I've seen.

The original frame sporting the factory rust promoting plugs still in the drain holes for the rear crossmember. Only in a dry climate could this be so well preserved. Once preped the original frame will be galvanized preserving it permanently.

The truck is coming apart. It will be completely disassembled and rebuilt from the bottom up on a galvanized frame, bulkhead, radiator panel and more.

This truck is getting a sweet winch setup. A refurbished Warn 8274 with synthetic line will be housed in a custom made pangolin4x4 bumper with a flush mounted synthetic fairlead. Here you can see the blade under construction.

Also on the list of options is this brand new fairey overdrive

The motor has been pulled and setup on a stand. A complete rebuild will comence shortly

Here you can see we have cut the slider bodies to replicate the original 3 inch sills. These will look just like the factory items but provide the stength of plate steel. Once these are finished they will be galvanized with the rest of the components from the truck.

Here you can see the front axle housing is being prepped for the 5/8th inch thick weld on diff gaurds. These will provide bulletproof protection from offroad obstacles.

disassembly continues

down to the rolling chassis

Here you can see the completed diff gaurds which will now be blasted and powder coated. No mud will get trapped in these, no rock will damage the ring gear. A great way to top off the refurbished axle assemblies.

Machining the rear hubs for the larger/longer press-in studs. Note the countersink for maximum rigidity and stud length.

Since the truck was getting disc brakes the calipers occupy the area right behind the swivel ball housing. This makes filling them with oil difficult. The housings are interchangeable side to side with some minor differences. This puts the plug in front for easy servicing.

The steering arm has to be machined so that the drain plug fits properly.

Machining the steering arm plug recess to the proper angle

The finished arm/housing for and extra steth mod that makes servicing a breeze instead of a pain.

Engine fully machined to .020 over, hot tanked and painted with BMC green engine enamel. Much better looking than that eggshell blue!!!

Galvanized rolling Chassis with complete axle assemblies, springs etc

Vintage Warn M-11 hubs have been refurbished and fitted. 255/85/16 BFG muds.

Front axle: sewer capped, disc brakes and completely rebuilt and detailed.

New Swivel balls, bearings and all seals

Motor assembled. 8:1 head, stetelite vavles, hardened seats, new valve springs, tappets, AE pistons, AE bearings (rods, mains, cam), brass freeze plugs, complete timing assembly. Note: gear reduction starter, manifolds coated etc

New engine accessories, electronic ignition, spin on oil filter, and new fuel pump. Note diesel mounts for extra life.

The last firewall you will ever need! Chemically stripped and galvanized, this firewall has also been line-xed in the same areas where the hardura trim was originally fitted. Hard wearing and good looking, this one will last forever, unlike one dipped in primer!!!

Seatbox has also been line-xed. It will also get a full dynamat treatment on the other side to minimize drivetrain and road noise and cut down on reverberation.

Axle has been moved 2 inches rearwards for a true 90 inch wheelbase. OME shocks.
